Sierra Nevada

Illora is approximately 40 minutes drive from the amazing Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, near Granada city.
This photo shows the mountain range in the distance, taken from the hill behind our casa.
Although we have not been to participate in the skiing, the snow covered mountains are very popular with tourists.

Winter time

Winter has arrived in Illora...Freezing cold winds blowing in from Eastern Europe have caused temperatures to drop drastically. We had temperature as low as -9, although the sun during the daytime does make it more bearable.

Thank goodness for our supply of olive wood logs for the wood burning stove.

It's a shame some of the more tender garden plants have suffered and died.

Frosty days....

Cold weather blowing from Eastern Europe has driven a drastic fall in temperatures
I had a reading of -4 on car this morning! (and everyone thinks we live in "sunny" Spain!)

We have our wood burner blazing to keep warm

Cafe Pandora

Another new Cafeteria has opened in town, luckily not very far from the house, near the Ayuntamiento. Will be good when we are out walking, for that thankfull drink before climbing back up the hill towards home!!

Real Feria de Ganado

This weekend brings the annual Animal Fair to Illora
It begins on Friday, and celebrations continue until Tuesday, with Sunday being the main event day, with horse trading and flamenco dancing being the highlights.
Of course, the weather forecast predicts heavy rain for most of the weekend!
