Fitting of Rejas
As it is traditional in Spain to fit black security bars, known here as rejas, to the windows, we decided to adapt the ones that had been fitted to the sun terrace originally, and contacted the Rejas manufacturer in town to give us a quote for renovation and fitting.
They have now been completed and fitted in place.

Spring has arrived
Spring has arrived in Illora, and with it hopefully the chance of heavy rain has now passed.
Time to replace the fabric door curtain, traditionally placed on the outside of the door in Spain to keep the heat of the sun from the wooden door.
Sun Room Work Complete
Work has progressed on the sun room over the last few weeks..the Builder removed the black metal railings (known here as Rejas) and constructed the brick wall infills, which he then covered with white Capofina plaster.
A doorway was made to gain access to the lounge, and a wooden door has been fitted.
After a couple of days drying time, Hubby installed the renovated wooden windows (see previous blog post), and the painstaking task of cutting with mitred corners the white wood trim and fitting this to finish off the windows.
Several coats of undercoat, and paint later, they look fantastic, what a transformation.
A coat of yellow ochre paint inside, furniture in place, time to enjoy and relax!

Sun Room
We have decided to make better use of the front terrace that looks out onto the street.
We do not usually sit out here, other than maybe to chat to the neighbours or when family visit as there is not much privacy, with cars passing by.
We duly applied for a "Licence Of Obras", and permission has been granted by the Ayuntamiento upon payment of our application fee.
We obtained a quote from a nearby Window supply shop, but prices were quite high just to supply aluminium type sliding windows.
On a day out, by pure chance, we came across some second hand used timber windows, which hubby decided he could transform to "good as new condition", with lots of hard work, elbow grease and patience.
the 5 windows that we need to use in the construction are now prepared, and we await a visit from the builder to make a start on wall construction. More pics to follow when work is in progress .....
A House Next Door
Since my last post, apologies for not keeping our Blog up to date, many changes have taken place in Illora.
A new house has been constructed next door to ours, and we took a timeline of photographs as each stage progressed.
The Spanish family are now living in the house, work is complete.
